Oil-impregnated bearings use the porous nature of the material or the affinity with the lubricating oil to lubricate the bearing material before the bearing is installed. The bearing may not be added during the working period or the lubricating oil is not added for a long time.
When the oil-impregnated bearing is in non-operating state, the lubricating oil fills its pores. During operation, the shaft rotation generates heat due to friction, and the thermal expansion of the bearing shell reduces the porosity, so that the lubricating oil overflows and enters the bearing gap. When the shaft stops rotating, the bearing pads cool, the pores recover, and the lubricating oil is sucked back into the pores. Although oil-bearing bearings may form a complete oil film, in most cases, the bearing is in a mixed friction state of an incomplete oil film.
The oil-bearing bearing bush material which can make the lubricating oil fill the pores by using the porous property of the material includes: wood, growing cast iron, cast copper alloy and powder metallurgy anti-friction material; the affinity property of the material and the lubricating oil can be utilized to uniformly distribute the lubricating oil The oil-bearing bearing bush material in the material is mostly a polymer such as an oleic phenolic resin.
Features of oil bearing:
1. Sleeve bearing with sliding friction, using lubricating oil as lubricant and drag reducer
2. The initial operation noise is low, the manufacturing cost is low, but the wear is serious, and the service life is much different from the ball bearing;
3. When the use time is long, due to the oil seal, the lubricating oil will gradually evaporate, and the dust will also enter the bearing, causing problems such as slower device speed and increased noise.
