Bearing shell is the contact part between sliding bearing and journal. Its shape is semi-cylindrical and very smooth. It is usually made of bronze, friction-reducing alloy and other wear-resistant materials. Under special circumstances, it can be made of wood, engineering plastics or rubber. There are two types of bearing bushes: integral bushing and split bushing. There are two kinds of integral bearing bush: oil ditch and oil ditch. Bearing Bush and journal adopt clearance fit, generally do not rotate along the axis.
The material characteristics of bearing bush are: small friction coefficient, enough fatigue strength, good running-in and good corrosion resistance. Commonly used bearing materials are bearing alloys (Babbitt alloys), copper alloys, powder metallurgy, gray cast iron and wear-resistant cast iron. There are three main types of non-lubricated bearing bush materials: polymer, carbon graphite and special ceramics.
